I've just recently been starting to do all of those cool internet things everyone else already knew about. I now know how to tweet, get LinkedIn, and subscribe to RSS feeds. I know they aren't complicated things, but they were uncharted territory for me until recently. I have to admit, I've totally become one of those people who tweets more than a few times a day. Whenever I see some new cool story or YouTube video, I have to share it with all of my followers.
I just got a LinkedIn account, so I haven't figured everything out yet. I'm still attempting to decide which information is necessary and which is irrelevant. Do people really care when my birthday is or if I'm married? I would hope not.
I think the coolest new thing I've discovered is an RSS feed reader which, I know, is extremely advanced technology. It is pretty cool though, I get to see when my favorite sites add new articles or I get a new email, or even the joke of the day. I don't even have to go into my bookmarks folder to do it! You can pretty much subscribe to any site you love and then the update will show up on your RSS feed. And of course, the best part is you can completely customize it. You get to choose the background and even rearrange all of your feeds, which I think is very cool.
And I know that most people who know how to use a computer understand this RSS feed thing, but I figured that if I just recently found out about it, then there have to be some people out there who are also unaware. So, if you still don't have one, I highly suggest getting one today. I have iGoogle and so far, I love it. It reminds me to stay up to date on all kinds of Marketing news, which is great for impressing teachers.
These are a few that I subscribe to...
Influential Marketing Blog: This is a really cool one. It's written by the guy who wrote Personality Not Included which is a very interesting book that talks about the many different ways to get your brand noticed and loved by your customers. He uses a ton of great examples and writes in a really funny and witty way. I would highly suggest checking out both his book and his blog.

Mashable: This one is focused more on social media and the constant changes they go through. There have been a lot of entries written about Twitter and Facebook lately, especially because of Facebook's recent changes.

Seth's Blog: I really like this one because it's short and sweet. He gets right to he point and doesn't ruin it with a bunch of extra fluff. It's informative and pretty funny.

So if you're serious about getting involved in Marketing, I would suggest taking a look at one of these sites and doing some of your own research to find more out there.
